The Phoenix Suns fired coach Monty Williams following their playoff elimination against Denver Nuggets in the Conference Semifinals. Williams won the coach of the season the previous year and led them to a .628 winning percentage including an NBA Finals appearance. However, Suns shooting guard Devin Booker appeared to be 'unbothered' as long as he has Kevin Durant with him.
Earlier, Phoenix Suns' new owner Mat Ishbia fired two-time coach of the year winner Monty Williams after the Suns' elimination from the NBA playoffs 2023 by Western Conference leaders Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of the semifinals.

The 26-year-old took to Twitter with a cryptic message which said, "36 unbothered." Booker wears jersey number one and Kevin Durant wears the number 35 which adds up to 36. It probably means that the duo is unbothered by the sacking of Monty Williams.
Some reports go as far as to say that the duo was 'consulted' before relieving Williams, which suggests that their word carries significant weight within the organization. The arrival of Mat Ishbia as the new owner of the Suns had given the impression that Phoenix is going to have major changes. The removal of Williams is a major move for the new owner and the Suns.
Kevin Durant is yet to publicly address the coaching change but some sources indicate that he remains optimistic about the team's future. Booker has shown his support for Williams in the past which could imply his reservations about the decision. Tyronn Lue and Nick Nurse seem to be some of the names on the Suns' radar.
