Jos Buttler played a captain’s knock as England defeated West Indies by seven wickets in the second T20I at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Sunday, November 10. With that, England have also taken a lead of 2-0 in a five-match T20I series, and are just one win away from clinching it. Chasing a target of 159 runs, Buttler smashed 83(45) runs as England won the match with 31 balls remaining.
After winning the toss England captain Jos Buttler asked the West Indies to bat first. The hosts didn’t get a great start as they lost three wickets at the score of 35 runs in 3.5 overs. Following that, skipper Rovman Powell led from the front with a steady knock of 43 runs off 41 hitting two fours and as many sixes. Romario Shepherd took charge in death overs, scoring 22(12) runs, while Matthew Forde (13* off 6) also gave finishing touches to the innings as West Indies posted 158/8 in their 20 overs. For England, Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley and Liam Livingstone scalped two wickets each, while Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid took a wicket each.

In pursuit of the 159-run target, England lost Phil Salt on the very first ball of the innings as the opening batter registered a golden duck. After that, coming to bat at number, skipper Jos Buttler joined Will Jacks at the crease as the duo put up a partnership of 129 runs for the second wicket. Jacks got out after scoring 38 runs off 29 balls, hitting five fours and a maximum. A couple of deliveries later, Buttler also lost his wicket but not before he played captain’s knock of 83(45), smashing eight fours and six sixes.
Liam Livingstone gave finishing touches to the run chase with his unbeaten 23 runs off 11 balls as England got past the target in just 14.5 overs while losing just three wickets. For the West Indies, Romario Shepherd scalped two wickets, while Akeal Hosein put one in his bag. England are now 2-0 in a five-match T20I series. The third T20I will be played at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia on Friday, November 15.
