Rajat Patidar, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain, scored a well-made 51 off 32 balls to help post a mammoth total of 196/7 in their stipulated 20 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, March 28 in IPL 2025. After quick fall of wickets at the top of the order, Patidar-led from the front.
For the unversed, Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK had won the toss and elected to bowlf first. With Phil Salt and Virat Kohli opening the innings for RCB, the former had to depart after a lightning-fast stumping from veteran MS Dhoni after having scored 32 runs off 16 balls. Kohli, was then joined by Devdutt Padikkal but the duo departed having scored 31 and 27 runs respectively.

The skipper then took the guards in the middle as he scored a fighting 51 off 32 deliveries, with his inning being laced with four fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 159.38. During his stay in the middle, Patidar also became only the second RCB captain after Virat Kohli to score a half-century against CSK in IPL at Chepauk.

Coming back to Patidar, the 31-year-old right-handed batter, who was retained by the franchise for INR 14 Crore, has played 29 matches for the franchise, getting 884 runs to his name.
