Gujarat Titans got their first win of IPL 2025 after they defeated Mumbai Indians in match number nine of the season in Ahmedabad. For GT, Sai Sudharsan turned out to be a star with his second consecutive fifty of the season. The opening batter scored 63(41) runs as GT posted 196/8 in their 20 overs. In reply, MI were restricted at 160/6 in their 20 overs.

Batting first, GT got a flying start as skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan put up an opening partnership of 78 runs in 8.3 overs. Gill got out after scoring 38(27) runs hitting four fours and a six. After that, Jos Buttler joined Sudharsan at the crease and both added another 51 runs before the fall of the second wicket. Buttler got out after scoring 39(24) runs with five fours and a six.

After Jos Buttler’s wicket, Sai Sudharsan took the innings further for GT with wickets falling from other end, He finally got in the 18th over after scoring 63 runs off 41 balls hitting four fours and two sixes. Sherfane Rutherford also scored 18 off 11 as MI reached the 196-run mark. For MI, Hardik Pandya took two wickets, while Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Satyanarayana Raju scalped a wicket each.

Chasing the winning target, MI lost both their openers inside powerplay as Mohammed Siraj struck twice. After that, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav added 62 runs for the third wicket. Tilak got out after scoring 39(36) runs hitting three fours and a six, while Suryakumar top scored with 48 runs off 28 balls hitting one four and four sixes. However, none of the other batters could stay at the crease for long as MI could only score 160 for the loss of six wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took wickets each while Kagiso Rabada and Sai Kishore scalped a wicket each.
