On Saturday, March 22, star India batter Virat Kohli guided his IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) over the line with his match-winning 59 off 36 deliveries in the 2025 season opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens. Coming out to open the innings alongside Phil Salt, Kohli reached the 50-run mark off 30 deliveries.

With this, he also etched his name in history books as he became the first batter to score 1000-plus runs against four different teams in the cash-rich league. While his fourth came in the 10th over off Sunil Narine, he also has amassed a total of 1053 runs against CSK, 1057 runs against Delhi Capitals and 1030 runs against Punjab Kings.

The overall record of scoring most runs in IPL against KKR is held by former Australian batter David Warner. The former left-handed batter scored 1093 runs in 28 IPL matches for Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is followed by Rohit Sharma, who has 1070 runs to his name in 34 IPL matches against KKR for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians.

Virat Kohli marks his 400th appearance in T20 cricket

On Saturday, the 36-year-old Virat Kohli marked his 400th appearance in T20 cricket, a remarkable milestone. Moreover, Virat became the third Indian player to play 400 T20 matches, joining the likes of Rohit Sharma (448) and Dinesh Karthik (412) in the elite list of Indian players, who have featured in 400-plus T20s.

Notably, Kohli is the only player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to have played all seasons for one team - Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He is also IPL's highest run-scorer and the only one with more than 8000 runs with eight centuries and 55 fifties.
