The 24-year-old came into the playing XI as an Impact Player (IP) and clinched 3/32 figures. During his spell, the youngster claimed the scalps of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Hooda. Puthur’s disciplined bowling received appreciation from MI fans despite the defeat.
Following the conclusion of the game, Puthur was seen with MS Dhoni, who stood at the crease until the end of the contest with opener Rachin Ravindra. In the customary post-match handshake, Dhoni was seen having a brief conversation with the spin wizard. Following the chat, fans are eager to know from Puthur’s father what the 43-year-old legend said to the youngster. In the recent development, Vignesh’s friend Sreerag has told ‘The Indian Express’ what Dhoni asked the Kerala-based player. “Dhoni asked him how old is he and told Vignesh to keep doing the same things that have brought him to the IPL," said Puthur’s friend Sreerag.

Chennai will next play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 28. CSK will want their spinner Noor Ahmad to continue his excellent work on Chepauk’s turning turf.
