After no cricketing action for the last two days, the fans finally got to see some action on day four of the ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park in Kanpur. Resuming from 107/3, Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 runs in thee first innings after Mominul Haque coming up with his 12th Test hundred. Following that, the Indian batters took down the Bangladesh bowlers as they scored 285/9 runs in just 34.4 overs before declaring their innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the top scorer with 72 runs off 51 balls in the Indian innings after hitting 12 fours and two sixes.
Coming to bat after bowling Bangladesh out in their first innings, India got a flying start in the first innings as Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed three fours in the first over by Hasan Mahmud. After that, skipper Rohit Sharma also started his innings with a six on the first ball of the second over. The opening pair put up an opening partnership of 55 runs in just 3.5 overs. Rohit got out after a quickfire 23(11) runs. After that, Yashasvi Jaiswal took charge of the innings.
KL Rahul and Virat Kohli stitch togehter 87-run partnership for fifth wicket in Indian first innings
After the fall of the first wicket, Shubman Gill joined Yashasvi Jaiswal as the pair added 72 runs for the second wicket. Jaiswal got out after a well-made fifty, which had a plethora of boundaries, to set a perfect platform for the Indian cricket team to secure the first innings lead in a quick time. Just a few overs later, Shubman Gill lost his wicket after scoring 39(36) runs. Rishabh Pant, who was the centurion from the previous match, also failed to score big in the first innings. After that, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul controlled the Indian innings, to help them get past the first innings total of Bangladesh at the speed of light.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul added 87 runs for the fifth wicket. Kohli fell short of just three runs from his half-century as he got out after scoring 47 runs off 35 balls, hitting four fours and a six. Meanwhile, KL Rahul came up with his 14th Test fifty as the right-hander got out after scoring 68 runs off 43 balls with seven four and two sixes. India were on 285/9, before Rohit Sharma decided to call off the innings with a lead of 52 runs. In their second innings, Bangladesh reached 26/2 by the end of day four, trailing by 26 runs.
