The Premier League 2022-23 season has just ended and the fixtures for next season have been already announced. The Premier League calendar returns to its normal format in 2023/24 following a mid-season break in the previous campaign due to the 2022 World Cup. The next campaign will be getting underway on August 11 and Manchester City will face Vincent Kompany’s Burnely in the opening game.

The treble winners Manchester City will start their  2023-24 campaign with a trip to Turf Moor, where they will face Burnley, who are managed by their former captain Vincent Kompany. The Belgian legend led City to four Premier League titles as a player and returned to England as a coach after a successful spell with Anderlecht in his homeland.

Kompany dominated the Championship as he finished with 101 points and guided Burnley to promotion to the Premier League in his first season and will be hoping to cause an upset against his former club.  Manchester City will be aiming for their eighth Premier League title and Pep Guardiola will be looking to replicate the recently concluded season which was near perfect.

On the other hand, Manchester United will be in action when they face Wolves on August 14. The Red Devils had a good 2022-23 season winning the EFL cup and comfortably qualifying for the Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League table and Eric ten Hag will be looking to improve. Wolves have a new manager in Julen Lopetegui who will be in charge of his first full season and will have to work hard to bring this side back to the top half of the table.

Other notable matches on the opening weekend include Chelsea, who will be under their new coach Mauricio Pochettino, taking on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool at the Stamford Bridge while Eddie Howe's Newcastle United will face Unai Emery's Aston Villa at the St. James Park, and Mikel Arteta's Arsenal will host Nottingham Forest in their opener.
