The first few matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw some records galore as well as some nail-biter thrillers. In the fifth match of IPL 2025, new-looking Punjab Kings will take on Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, March 25. While Shubman Gill will be leading the Gujarat-based franchise, Punjab Kings will walk out with a comparatively new-looking squad with IPL 2024 winning captain, Shreyas Iyer leading them this season.
Ahead of their upcoming clash, Brad Haddin, who is Punjab Kings’ assistant coach spoke at length of the team, but remained tight-lipped when asked of their opening combination. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Haddin clarified that they aren’t sure yet, but will make sure of right combinations.
We are not sure who opens: Brad Haddin remains tight-lipped on PBKS opening pair
"We are not sure who opens yet. We have got guys like Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis who have done it well in the past as well. So we have to make sure that we get the right combination," Brad Haddin said. The former Australia cricketer also did not reveal the team combination, but insisted that the management will continue to give opportunities to players.
He further added, "We want to make sure that they play brave cricket and as per the situation in front of them. This is a new group. We have players in every position we needed who can adapt to play in different roles. I think we've got experience right through.” It is to be noted that the Punjab Kings will aim to overturn their past seasons results. In IPL 2024, the PBKS finished ninth with only five wins from 14 league matches.
