The runners-up of last season Rajasthan Royals will kick-start their 2023 IPL season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 2 in Hyderabad. Sanju Samson-led side played highly competitive cricket last season and reached the final of the season, only to suffer a crushing defeat at the hands of debutant Gujarat Giants.

The inaugural champions emerged as a strong force in 2022 and Jos Buttler provided them much-needed x-factor. The English batter ended as a leading run-getter in the league including a couple of unprecedented centuries. Rajasthan retained their core players and bought some valuable players in the IPL 2023 mini-auction with the likes of Jason Holder, Adam Zampa and Joe Root.
Buttler and captain Sanju Samson will be crucial cogs in the squad as the duo comes with a lot of experience and credibility. However, the franchise has suffered a big blow ahead of the IPL 2023 as a prominent pacer Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the league due to injury.
