Both these developments were confirmed by Revsportz. The Men in Blue are scheduled to play three ODIs, three T20Is and two Tests against South Africa. The test series will be further crucial as it falls under the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.
Talking about Samson and Patidar, both players have been promising performances in the domestic circuit and have been pushing for a place in the national team for some time. Sanju Samson has been one of the most talked about players in recent times as many believe the Kerala and Rajasthan Royals captain hasn't received enough opportunities at the international level.
On the other hand, Patidar has been among the top-performing batters in Indian domestic cricket. The 30-year-old has scored 3795 runs at an average of 45.72 in 52 first-class games while in List-A cricket, the Royal Challengers Bangalore star has scored 1813 runs in 54 games at an average of 34.86.

Coming back to the veteran batters, Cheteshwar Pujara missed out on the recent tour to the West Indies and has since been a regular in England's county cricket, playing for Sussex. Whereas, Rahane's exclusion comes as a surprise with the Mumbai batter being the vice-captain in the West Indies tour after an impressive performance in the ICC WTC 2021-23 final.
