The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has ended all speculations surrounding Virat Kohli ’s replacement. The team has reportedly added Rajat Patidar in the Indian squad for the first two Tests, commencing on January 25 in Hyderabad. This comes after the former India skipper and batting stalwart Virat Kohli had withdrawn from the first two Tests on Monday, January 22, citing “personal reasons.”

The Madhya Pradesh batter was spotted with the members of the Indian side at the BCCI Annual Awards on Tuesday, 23 January, ending speculations on the probable replacement. With the Ajit Agarkar-led Selection Committee naming Patidar, he pips the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Sarfaraz Khan and Ajinkya Rahane as Kohli’s replacement. However, the BCCI is yet to confirm this move.
Speaking of the right-handed batter, he comes into the squad after having scored 151 against England Lions for India A in Ahmedabad last week. He also scored 111 in the warm-up fixture against the England Lions and was also part of the India A tour of South Africa, last year.
