The Taliban administration confirmed on Sunday that severe earthquakes in Afghanistan have killed more than 2,000 people and injured more than 9,000. Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan has announced on social media that donate his entire ODI World Cup 2023 match fees to the earthquake victims in the country.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said that the quakes hit 35 km (20 miles) northwest of the city of Herat, with one measuring 6.3 magnitude.

Rashid took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, " I learned with great sadness about the tragic consequences of the earthquake that struck the western provinces (Herat, Farah, and Badghis) of Afghanistan.

"I am donating all of my #CWC23 match fees to help the affected people.  Soon, we will be launching a fundraising campaign to call upon those who can support the people in need. "

Talking about the ODI World Cup 2023, Afghanistan lost their opener against Bangladesh after their dismal performance at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side will next face hosts India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, October 11.
