Ravi Bishnoi has evolved to be an excellent leg spinner and an upcoming talent but he faced a problem to which almost all cricketers can relate. He had to miss the 12th boards to be a part net bowler for the Rajasthan Royals in 2018. He promised his father to give the exam the following year and rightly did so, but after that studies took a back seat as he focused on his cricket.
He has revealed in his Interview in the LSG podcast “I missed Class XIIth boards as I was a net bowler with Rajasthan Royals. My father called me and sternly asked me to come back, but the coach told me that I will have to be there. Then I decided to skip the boards that year but finished it the next year.”
This would have been a more difficult job for him as his father is a teacher at the local government school. He added, “At the age of 10, I joined a cricket academy and when I turned 15, I decided to give up on my studies. I was not getting time from cricket. It was difficult to convince the parents. My coaches then told my father to let me continue with cricket because of my talent.
He was further asked about sledging incidents in his career, where he admitted that things got heated in the U19 World Cup final in 2020. He and Akash Singh were reprimanded by the ICC after this incident and the leg spinner hasn't sledged anyone since then.
This was a casual fun interview on the LSG podcast and these kinds of interviews are being done by many franchises now. Such interviews humanize our favourite players and help the general public to understand what is going through the player’s minds.
