On Tuesday, October 1, India clean swept Bangladesh 2-0 to continue their domination at home. After winning the first Test by 280 runs in Chennai, the Rohit Sharma-led side made it 2-0 after beating Bangladesh by seven wickets at the Green Park in Kanpur. During the final day of the second Test, former India cricketer, Ravi Shastri made a cheeky remark and a bold statement on wicketkeepers.
During his commentary stint on Day 5 of the second Test, former Bangladesh cricketer, Arthar Ali Khan was having a conversation with Ravi Shastri on the batting style of Mushfiqur Rahim. The Bangladesh batter, who was seen struggling with the spin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and opted to go for sweep shots. At this moment, Shastri questioned, “Tell me on keeper, who doesn’t like to sweep?”
Murali Kartik’s quick response leaves Ravi Shastri stunned
As soon as Ravi Shastri made this comment, another commentator and former India spinner, Murali Kartik dropped a quick reply, leaving everyone, particularly Ravi Shastri stunned. Kartik quickly responded, taking MS Dhoni’s name. As a matter of fact, MS Dhoni is a bottom-handed player who hardly tried to play sweep shots against spinners. He rather preferred to use his feet to advance down the track to tackle tricky spinners.

India inch closer to WTC Final spot after 2-0 series win against Bangladesh
Speaking of the two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh, while the Men in Blue registered a comfortable win in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai by 280 runs to go 1-0 up, the second Test had its own turns with rain playing a spoilsport on majority occasions.
With Rohit Sharma and Co. winning the toss and inviting Bangladesh to bat first, the opening day saw only 35 overs being bowled due to incessant rain. Things intensified with rain and wet outfield washing out Day 2 and 3 of the second Test, before the proceedings resumed in Kanpur on Day 4. The Men in Blue bundled out the visitors for 233 and then took 52 runs lead before declaring the innings for 285/9.
The Indian bowlers stepped up again as they bundled out the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side to 146, putting 95-run target. Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja all scalped three wickets each while Akash Deep got a solitary wicket of Shadman Islam. Later, half century from Yashasvi Jaiswal (51 off 45) and unbeaten 27 from Virat Kohli helped India seal the match and the series in just 17.2 overs.
With this victory, India just needs to win three more matches to close their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. If India wins all three matches against New Zealand, they will make it into the final and a couple of wins down under will just confirm their position for the third consecutive WTC Final.
