Ravichandran Ashwin, the ace Indian spinner, has responded to a fake account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the social media platform X. The account, which has the username @NarendraModiPa, posted a comment under Ashwin's post congratulating ISRO for its successful landing of Chandrayaan-3.

Isro’s third lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 made a soft landing on the Moon on Wednesday, August 23. With this, India became the fourth country in the world to land a rover on the Moon and the first country to reach  the Moon's south pole. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a "historic movement" and said it had sounded the "bugle for a developed India". Many cricketers wished ISRO for this historic achievement including Ravindrachan Ashwin.

Ashwin posted a message on X on July 20, 2023, praising ISRO for its feat saying, "History👏👏Congratulations @isro for this extraordinary accomplishment. #JaiHind”. The parody account of the Prime Minister replied to Ashwin's post by saying, "Congratulations to every indian ❤️ thank you ISRO for making this possible."

Ashwin, who was in a mood for a joke, replied to it by saying, "Sir how are you?  I am so glad you replied to my tweet. I am honoured.”

This reply sent the cricketing world into a frenzy as memes started cropping up of the most intelligent cricketer falling for a fake account. Another fan replied in this thread, “Looks like most won't get the sarcasm here,” and Ashwin replied to him with a laughing emoji which clarified that the reply was a joke.

Meanwhile, Ashwin has been out of favour in India’s limited overs circuit and was excluded from the Asia Cup along with Yugzevendra Chahal, a move which is being criticised by many. Ashwin last played for India in an ODI match in January 2022 but played in the T20 World Cup later that year.
