Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise bought him in back in their squad for INR 9.75 Crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Ashwin was one of the big names in the mega auction after he was released by Rajasthan Royals in the player's retention. The 38-year-old is set for a homecoming and will be seen playing for CSK again in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.
Ravinchandran Ashwin was one of the key players for Rajasthan Royals in the last few years after they bought him for INR 5 Crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Along with his spin bowling, Ashwin can also show some big hits in death overs as a taliender.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s IPL Salary breakdown
Ravichandran Ashwin made his IPL debut in 2009 after Chennai Super Kings bought him for INR 12 Lakh in the IPL 2009 auction. Since then, Ashwin has played for five different franchises throughout his IPL career, including the likes of CSK, Rising Pune Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. He was also appointed as a skipper for PBKS in IPL 2018 and 2019.
Talking about his IPL salary, Ravichandran Ashwin will now earn INR 9.75 Crore while playing for CSK in an entire season of IPL 2025. As every franchise is scheduled to play 14 league matches, Ashwin is likely to bowl 336 balls during the league stage if he completes the quota of bowling four overs in every match. According to this, Ashwin will earn around INR 2.9 Lakh per ball in IPL 2025. However, if CSK qualify for the finals, they will play a maximum of 17 matches in the entire season of IPL 2025. Which means, Ashwin will now bowl a total of 408 balls during an entire IPL season, bowling 24 balls in every match. This means the off-spinner will now earn approx INR 2.39 Crore for every ball in IPL 2025.
