The latest instalment of the El Clasico was quite a heated affair on the pitch and bench as Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in a one-sided contest at the Santiago Bernabeu. After Barcelona captain Raphinha scored the fourth goal on the night, the celebrations from the players and coaching staff at the technical area spilled over to Real Madrid’s side, which Carlo Ancelotti wasn’t quite pleased about, and he blasted one of the members of the opposing counterpart Hansi Flick’s staff in the post-match interview.
Notably, Carlo Ancelotti reproached Hansi Flick in the aftermath of the wild celebrations from Barcelona players and staff as they went up 4-0, which led to both the managers exchanging several words with each other. Ancelotti was most bothered about how Marcus Sorg, the assistant coach of Hansi Flick, celebrated in the technical area, and he let him know about it too.
Something happened with the assistant coach, not with Flick: Carlo Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti addressed the problem surrounding the goal celebration from Barcelona players and staff in the post-match press conference at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 65-year-old was quoted as saying, as per Marca, “Something happened with the assistant coach, not with Flick. He was not a gentleman when celebrating in front of the bench. I told Flick and he agreed.”
The four goals from Barcelona in the El Clasico came in the second half after Real Madrid had started the game quite well in the first half, but they had failed to beat the off side trap, with Kylian Mbappe being the guilty party for more than one occasion. Apart from the scoreline, Barca also dominated Real in terms of possession, which was 58.50% for them, apart from 15 shots on goal to the opponent’s nine, while their xG was 2.67 compared to the hosts’ 1.51.
The Real Madrid manager also spoke about his team’s performance against Barcelona in the El Clasico, and said, “It (the scoreline) doesn't reflect what happened on the pitch. We couldn't get ahead and they took the lead. The game, until the first goal, was very even and we had more chances. The formation was 4-4-2 and I think we did well in the first half.”
