A special red and white livery has been unveiled by Red Bull for Formula 1’s upcoming Japanese Grand Prix. The livery was unveiled as a tribute to Honda, which is also Red Bull’s engineering partner. Notably, the upcoming Suzuka is also going to be Honda’s last home event with the Milton Keynes-based outfit before they tie up with Ford in 2026.
The special white livery will enhance RB21, which has been inspired by Honda RA272 which was driven by Richie Ginther during his maiden F1 win at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix. The livery also summons Japan’s national flag with a shade of white on the Red Bull. Meanwhile, the Bulls will appear with the nose featuring the same red sun as the RA272. The Honda logos on the livery are from the 1960s design.
Never expected to be racing for Red Bull at the Japanese Grand Prix: Yuki Tsunoda
With the start of the Japanese Grand Prix, 24-year-old Japanese racer Yuki Tsunoda will also kickstart his career for Red Bull. He has replaced Liam Lawson from New Zealand for the upcoming Grand Prix. "To be honest, I never expected to be racing for Red Bull at the Japanese Grand Prix," Tsunoda said as quoted in Motorsports.com.
"This is the final year of Red Bull and Honda’s partnership, so getting to race in Suzuka as a Red Bull Racing driver feels like fate. Everything has fallen into place in just the right way for me to be standing here today,” he further added. “Of course, I was happy about joining Red Bull, but when I thought about it carefully, the idea of suddenly racing for Red Bull at the Japanese Grand Prix felt so unreal,” Tsunoda said.
