Sourav Ganguly, the Director of Cricket at Delhi Capitals, spoke about the return to cricket for Rishabh Pant during the IPL 2024, along with how he has shaped up as the captain of the team. The 51-year-old remarked that Rishabh Pant will become a better captain with time, stating that nobody is a great captain from day one.
Notably, Delhi Capitals won their last match in the group stage of the IPL 2024, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 19 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After posting a formidable score of 208/4, thanks to the half centuries from Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs, DC restricted LSG to 189/9, with Ishant Sharma picking up three crucial top order wickets.
During his interview with JioCinema, Sourav Ganguly had following views about the DC captain, “(Rishabh) Pant is a young captain, he'll learn with time. The way he returned from injury to play a full season; we had our doubts during the off season. Indian players are crucial, especially since the TATA IPL shifted to 10 teams. I am very happy for him that he returned to play so well over a full season. He has all my well wishes for whatever is next.”
Following this, Sourav Ganguly addressed the captaincy of Rishabh Pant during the IPL 2024 season for Delhi Capitals and said, “With time, he'll become a better captain. Nobody is a great captain from day one, but he is an instinctual captain, he makes decisions on the ground. With more time, he'll get better.”
Moreover, Delhi Capitals are still in the running to reach the IPL playoffs in the 2024 season if a couple of results in the league go in their favour.
