In a recent report, Rohan Jaitley, the President of the DDCA, may take over the role of the BCCI secretary from Jay Shah if the latter becomes the new chairperson of the ICC. After Greg Barclay announced his intention to not continue in the top job at the ICC, Jay Shah has emerged as a front-runner to replace him, which could open the role of the BCCI secretary for Rohan Jaitley.

As reported by the Dainik Bhaskar, Rohan Jaitley, the son of Late Arun Jaitley, could be the next in-line to be a part of the BCCI top brass if Jay Shah joins the ICC as its next chairperson. It is important to note that the current ICC President, Greg  Barclay, has been working in the role since 2020, and is reaching the end of his second stint after being re-elected in 2022.

For the unversed, a person can work as the ICC President for a maximum of six years. This time period has been divided into three terms of two years each. Barclay’s term will end on November 30 this year.

Before this date, the ICC would need to fill the position. In recent times, Jay Shah’s name is floating in the media but there is no confirmation from the BCCI secretary and the Asian Cricket Council President in this regard. If he becomes the ICC chairperson, the BCCI secretary post will be empty.

Rohan Jaitley has immense experience in DDCA administration

Rohan Jaitley is currently in his second stint as the DDCA President. Apart from this, under his leadership, the DDCA has managed to organize the ongoing first season of the Delhi Premier League 2024.

Talking about the ICC chairperson election, any candidate who stands for the elections needs to get at least nine out of 16 votes. Before Shah, Indian administrators such as Jagmohan Dalmiya, N. Srinivasan, Sharad Pawar, and Shashank Manohar have been ICC chairperson.
