The Indian captain Rohit Sharma has hurt his left thumb ahead of the first day of the World Test Championship Final against Australia. After losing the previous WTC Final against New Zealand, Team India seemed to get ready for clinching its first ICC title over the last 10 years,
But ahead of the first day of the Test match, Rohit Sharma has been reportedly injured as he hurt his left thumb while batting in the nets. As per multiple reports, Sharma walked out of a net session as the ball hit his left thumb. The Mumbai Indians captain was then assessed by the team physio, who applied tape over the injured area.
As per veteran journalist Boria Majumdar, Sharma was taken off the nets as a possible precautionary measure. He tweeted, " Break- Rohit was hit in the left thumb. He comes out of the nets. Physio Kamalesh attends to him, seen applying a tape. After a while he puts on his gloves to go back into the nets but decides against. Could be precautionary. @debasissen @iabhijitdesh @RevSportz"

As of now, there hasn't been an official update on Sharma's injury but if the worst-case scenario is considered, one of India's reserve batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal or Suryakumar Yadav, could possibly replace the Indian captain in the WTC Final. Similarly, Team India could also play Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat together as the MI keeper could open the innings with Shubman Gill.
