Team India is taking on Australia in the first Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth. After bundling out at the score of 150 in the first innings, India came back in the Australia first innings, restricting them to 104 all out, courtesy Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul. After taking a 46-run lead, the new Indian opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul stitched a 201-run stand to put a 300-plus run lead on the board.

After wickets of KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli scored a crucial unbeaten 100, ending his century drought as well as getting to his 81st hundred to put up a 534-run target on the board for the hosts. With Australia resuming Day 4 of the Perth Test at the score of 12/3, the Men in Blue continued their dominance on the field.

With the Men in Blue looking confident and in good touch, they were handed another boost with skipper Rohit Sharma joining the side on Day 4 of the ongoing Test. The 37-year-old, who landed in Australia on Sunday, November 24 after being with his wife Ritika Sajdeh after they were blessed with baby boy, was spotted next to Head Coach Gautam Gambhir in the dressing room.

Team India skipper was on a paternity leave and opted out of the first Test, underway at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The T20 World Cup 2024 winning captain is expected to return to play the pink-ball Test, despite restricted practice time in Australia. The second Test of the highly-anticipated five-match Test series is set to be played from December 5 to 10 at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.
