After a humiliating loss in the 1st Test against South Africa, Team India had an optional practice session where captain Rohit Sharma was present alongside several key players. The Men in Blue suffered an innings and 32-run loss where the Indian batting fell part at 131 in the second innings while chasing South Africa's 408-run first innings total.

But it wasn't just the second innings where the Indian batters struggled, it was a similar picture in the first innings as well but KL Rahul's ton carried the visitors to a 245-run score. But Dean Elgar's elegant 185 and Marco Jansen's 84 set up the game for the Proteas' pace attack.
Two days after the defeat, the Indian team's optional practice session saw Rohit Sharma, Shardul Thakur, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, Kona Bharat, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran in Centurion today, December 30.
