Speaking after the schedule, former India cricketer, Aakash Chopra feels that Rohit Sharma will play and continue to lead the side in the T20 World Cup. He further added that India will field an identical team to that of 2022.

“I feel Rohit Sharma will be doing T20I captaincy and will also be the captain for the 2024 T20 World Cup,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel. “If you had asked this question after the 2022 T20 World Cup, it was almost certain he would not be the captain, considering the way the team performed as we were coring 60 runs in the first 10 overs,” he further added.

Chopra further spoke of Hardik Pandya adding, “Hardik will probably not be the captain because there is an issue regarding fitness. You are not playing currently. You twisted your ankle in the World Cup. You are not playing the Afghanistan series and you don’t play Tests in any case, so you will straightway play the IPL. It is going against him.”

It is to be noted that Hardik has been out of action after suffering an ankle injury in match against Bangladesh at the ODI World Cup 2023. In his place, Suryakumar Yadav led the Men in Blue in series win against Australia and a series draw against South Africa.

India are placed in Group A of the T20 World Cup 2024 with arch-rivals Pakistan, the USA, Canada, and Ireland.
