The Tribal Chief and the Head of the Table Roman Reigns is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio at a live event from CDMX Arena in Mexico City on July 22, Saturday. This match comes on the heels of a main event showdown at WWE SummerSlam PLE from Ford Field in Detroit on August 5, Saturday, where the champion will put his titles at stake against his own flesh and blood Jey Uso in a “Tribal Combat.”
It was last month, on June 17, when Roman Reigns had put his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line against Rey Mysterio, at another live event from Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati. On that very occasion, the champion managed to defeat the WWE Hall of Famer, thanks to the interference from the son of Rey Mysterio, named Dominik Mysterio.
Notably, during the latest Friday night edition of WWE Smackdown from the Amway Center in Orlando on July 21, Friday, Roman Reigns made an appearance to have a segment with his arch-nemesis Jey Uso, who had challenged him for a match at SummerSlam two weeks ago. It was the way Solo Sikoa sent Jimmy Uso to the hospital, splashing him through the announcer’s table, which ticked off the former Right Hand Man into laying down the gauntlet for the Tribal Chief to accept.
When Roman Reigns signed the contract this week, Jey Uso went ahead and tore it up completely to the surprise of many. But then, he went on to say, “This right here, this is tribal combat now,” before stating that anything goes during their upcoming championship match at SummerSlam, to which the crowd in Orlando went mad.
To make it official, the champion and challenger shook hands with each other, but just as Roman Reigns started to leave the ring, Solo Sikoa tried to attack his elder brother, which was stopped by the Tribal Chief himself.
Seconds later, Jey Uso superkicked the Street Champion, to end this pulsating segment on a high note to close out a great episode of WWE Smackdown from the Amway Center.
