Ruben Amorim, the Manchester United manager, has reportedly targeted the Portugal and Sporting Lisbon winger Francisco Trincao as a key player for the club overhaul under him this summer. After joining the English footballing giants last November, Ruben Amorim has had a tough time on the field, especially at Old Trafford in the Premier League, and there is a need for them to bolster their attacking lineup.
As per the report from talkSPORT, Ruben Amorim sees Francisco Trincao, 25, as an essential player to reinforce their attack, and his recent form with Sporting Lisbon has been tremendous where the Portuguese was the manager previously. There is a £50 million release clause in the current contract of Francisco Trincao, but at the same time, his former club Barcelona will get 50 per cent of any transfer fees paid for him in the future.
Francisco Trincao has scored eight goals in 26 matches for Sporting Lisbon in Portuguese league
It is understood that Sporting Lisbon want to get at least £35 million from selling the young Portuguese midfielder, which is quite a big amount for Manchester United to pay for him with their financial issues. In 2021, Wolves loaned Francisco Trincao from Barcelona, and as part of the deal, they had to pay a £5 million fee, to avoid the option of buying him.
The professional career of the Portuguese began at Braga in 2018, and in the 2019-20 season, Taca da Liga title with them. Trincao moved to Barcelona for £26 million in 2020 before getting loaned to Wolves in 2021, and after joining Sporting on loan in 2022, he became a permanent part of the side two years ago.
In the ongoing Portuguese Primeira Liga 2024-25 season, Francisco Trincao has scored eight goals and 12 assists in 26 matches for Sporting Lisbon.
