In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Chennai Super Kings are currently taking on Rajasthan Royals at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. MS Dhoni won the toss earlier this evening and decided to bowl first. In their allotted 20 overs, RR scored a competitive total of 175/8 with a fifty from Jos Buttler and an impressive cameo from Shimron Hetmyer, meanwhile Ravindra Jadeja picked two vital wickets for CSK.
During the first over of Chennai’s run chase, Ruturaj Gaikwad was facing Sandeep Sharma. As the 4th ball of the over was about to be bowled, Gaikwad backed away from the stumps as he saw some movement happening in front of the side screen. By that time, Sharma was already into his bowling stride and hit Gaikwad on the body unintentionally. The cool and calm Sandeep Sharma immediately took stock of the situation and apologised to Ruturaj Gaikwad by raising his hand at him.
The moment was captured by a fan on Twitter who captioned it, “Pollard-Starc scene recreate by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sandeep Sharma.” Even though the interaction between Gaikwad and Sharma was far from heated like the one between Kieron Pollard and Mitchell Starc, the correlation made by the fan was not completely wrong if you think about it.
