The Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have pulled out of the upcoming Denmark Open 2024. The decision from the top-ranked Indian pair came on Sunday, October 6. Satwik-Chirag, who are currently ranked as World No. 7, will continue to miss the upcoming Super 750 tournament, starting October 15.
However, the exact reason of the Indian duo’s withdrawal is not known, but the possible reason could be a shoulder injury to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. Notably, the Indian pairing has been out of action since their quarter-finals defeat against long-time rivals, Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
With the top-ranked Indian pair missing yet another tournament, they are set to lose their rankings. After the conclusion of the Paris Olympic Games, the pair was ranked at number three, while they have dropped down to seventh place. Moreover, the duo has been without a coach since their exit from the quadrennial Games.
However, the side will miss the top ranked duo, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen among others will return to action at the Arctic Open 2024. The six-day tournament will be played from October 15 till 20 at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense, Denmark.
