The star Indian badminton duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the men's doubles title at Korea Open 2023 on July 23, Sunday. The world number three pair defeated the world number 1 duo of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final battle 17-21, 21-13, 21-14 to clinch another title of the year.
This was the fourth final of the year, and despite losing the first battle to their rivals, the Indians made a solid comeback in the game, emerging victorious in the third BWF World Tour title in 2023. Before that, the Indian duo won Swiss Open 2023 (Super 300) and Indonesia Open 2023 (Super 1000) earlier this year.
The Korea Open final clash was the fifth head-to-head clash between the India-Indonesia shuttlers, with Sat-Chi emerging victorious in three of them. Not only this, but with this win, the Indian duo have become world number 2 men's doubles pair.
Sat-Chi entered the final summit of the tournament as they took down world number two Chinese pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in the semifinal. On the other hand, the Indonesian rivals entered the final on the back of their victory against Korea’s star duo of Kang Min-Hyuk and Seo Seung-jae.
