India all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction held in Jeddah, is all set to be a part of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a replacement for pacer Moshin Khan, who is going through a calf strain. Shardul has been with LSG since the start of their preparations for IPL 2025. However, the official announcement of Shardul replacing Moshin is yet to be announced, but it’s confirmed that Shardul has been informed about the LSG management’s decision and will be a part of the side that will travel to Visakhapatnam to face Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 24.

Mohsin was out of cricketing action for three months due to an ACL injury but after recovering from it, he participated in LSG’s practice session and hurt his calf while bowling in the nets. With Lucknow’s main pacers Avesh Khan Akash Deep, and Mayank Yadav battling with injuries at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE), it became essential for the team to bring in an experienced face in Mohsin’s place. Shardul will be expected to step up and deliver desired bowling figures to the side.

LSG will expect Rishabh Pant to justify his leadership role

LSG have invested a mammoth sum of INR 27 crore in Rishabh Pant to reserve his services for the upcoming IPL edition. Following this deal, Rishabh will have to be at his best with both leadership and batting in the competition, which will be played until May 25. In the previous season, Lucknow failed to cross the round-robin stage for the first time after qualifying for playoffs for the two consecutive seasons (2022 and 2023).

This time, Lucknow have power-packed batting with the presence of eminent international players such as Pant, David Miller, Mitchell Marsh, and Aiden Markram in the squad along with Nicholas Pooran, who has been with the side since 2023.
