Indian fast bowler Shardul Thakur was seen doing practice while donning the prractice kit of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their camp ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from that, Thakur also celebrated the festival of holi along with LSG players. Notably, Thakur, who was seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in the previous edition of the IPL in 2024 went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year

Despite getting unsold in the mega auction, Shardul Thakur is likely to join LSG for IPL 2025 as he was seen in the LSG camp donning their practice kit with just a week left before the start of the tournament. With pacers like Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan dealing with injuries, Shardul can come as a replacement for the upcoming season.

Will Shardul Thakur play in LSG?

Shardul Thakur made his IPL debut while playing for Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) and went on to play for franchises like Rising Pune Supergiants, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. He also won the IPL title with CSK in 2018. Thakur has taken 94 wickets and amassed 307 runs from 95 matches in his IPL career so far.

After getting released by CSK post IPL 2024, Shardul Thakur came up with base price of ₹2 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, he didn’t get single bid in the auction and ended up being unsold. Now, he is likely go make his return in IPL after he was spotted doing bowling practice donning the LSG kit.
