Sherfane Rutherford, the West Indies batsman, has received a unique and generous reward for his stellar performance in the GT20 Canada 2023. The West Indian was given half an acre of land in the USA by the tournament organizers for being named the Player of the Series.

Rutherford, who played for the Montreal Tigers, was the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 220 runs in eight matches at an average of 44 and a strike rate of 130.17. He scored one half-century, including a match-winning knock of 38 off 29 balls in the final against the Surrey Jaguars.

Rutherford was presented with a certificate of ownership of half an acre of land in Florida, USA, by GT20 Canada chairman Gurmeet Singh at the presentation ceremony. The price of that land is approximately $6000, considering the average rate in the country.

With five wickets in hand, the Montreal Tigers successfully batted down the required 131 runs. The Montreal Tigers won the match after Sherfane Rutherford (38) and Andre Russell (20*) stitched a match-winning partnership of 29 runs in just twelve balls. Jatinder Singh (56) scored a half-century, and Iftikhar Ahmed's (2/8) deft bowling kept the Jaguars in the game until the very last delivery. Rutherford also won the Player of the Match and Moment of the Match awards in the final.
