Rohit Sharma-led Team India on Sunday, February 23, registered a comfortable six-wicket win against arch-rivals Pakistan in their second ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match at DICS. In the crucial match, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and star pacer Mohammed Shami were seen getting troubled with some kind of niggle, both of whom walked off the field for a few minutes and returned later.

While Shami left the field to receive some treatment on his shin inside the first 10 overs of the match, Rohit Sharma was off for an extended period with visile discomfort on his hamstring. During Rohit Sharma’s absence from the field, Shubman Gill took over the captaincy reins.

I don't think there is any issue: Shreyas Iyer on Md Shami and Rohit Sharma’s injuries

Speaking after playing a crucial 50-plus run knock in the match against Pakistan, middle-order-batter Shreyas Iyer shared positive updates on the skipper and star pacer’s injury. "Not really. I mean, I had a brief chat with them, both of them were quite comfortable with the way things progressed, and yeah, from my knowledge, I don't think there is any issue," Shreyas Iyer said.

Earlier in the match, the injuries to these key players added concerns in the Indian camp. While Md Shami returned to competitive cricket last year after an elongated break, he finally made his return in Indian colours in the T20I series against England. On other hand, Rohit Sharma has not had any injury concerns in the recent past, he did work on his fitness after being critisided during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
