Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has been named in the Mumbai squad for the upcoming Buchi Babu Invitational as India's domestic season kicks off with one of its oldest tournaments. Iyer was dropped from the Indian Test squad midway through the home series against England after which he missed a Ranji Trophy game and then joined the Mumbai squad.
In the Ranji Trophy 2024, Iyer played three matches and scored 154 runs in four innings including a 95 against Vidharbha in the final to help Mumbai win their 42nd title and end an eight-year title drought. Now, the 29-year-old will return to the Mumbai squad for the Buchi Babu which kicks off on August 15.

The development was confirmed by the Mumbai Cricket Association via a statement that said, "Shreyas Iyer will play for Mumbai team at the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament organized by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. He will be playing the Mumbai v Jammu & Kashmir match to be played from 27th August 2024 at Coimbatore."
Suryakumar Yadav makes himself available for Buchi Babu Invitational 2024
Alongside Iyer, Mumbai star Suryakumar Yadav has also made himself available for the Buchi Babu tournament. Recently, SKY spoke about how the upcoming domestic tournament will provide him with good practice for red-ball cricket this season and expressed aspirations to be a part of the Indian cricket team in all formats. “I will join the team after 25th. I’m always available to play for Mumbai and club team whenever free,” Surykumar Yadav as per the Indian Express.
