Former cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan once again lashed out at India’s ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on X (formerly Twitter). The 58-year-old leg spinner is known for being critical of Ashwin previously too. On Wednesday, he replied to a tweet stating that he tried to call Ashwin to congratulate him on his 100th Test match, but he didn’t reply.
Commenting on a tweet, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan wrote, “Tried calling him a few times to wish him for his 100th Test. Just cut off my call. Sent him a message, no reply. That’s the respect we former cricketers get.”
He further added, “Respect comes only from cultured people. Btw, I was earlier tweeting about a minor correction in his action and not criticizing him. If only people understood”.
Sivaramakrishnan previously criticised Ashwin on X
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has previously criticised Ravichandran Ashwin for his actions and dismal performances in SENA countries. In his previous tweets about veteran spinner, he had written, "I am telling you. Ashwin is a selfish stats player."
Also criticising him on his performance in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia, he tweeted, "Indian batsmen are struggling against spin because the pitches in India are doctored for Ashwin in Test matches. Look at his record in SENA countries."
However, Ashwin is all set to become the 14th player in Indian cricket history to play 100 Test matches when he takes the field in the fifth Test against England at Dharamsala.
