Sri Lanka defeated India by 32 runs in the second ODI of the three-game series in Colombo. After the first game was tied the Lankan spinners ran through the Indian batting thanks to Jeffrey Vandersay's 6-33 as the Men in Blue were bundled out at the score of 208 as they were chasing a tricky total of 240 runs.

After winning the toss, the Lankans had a poor start with the bat as they lost a wicket on the first ball. Then Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis rescued the innings before Dunith Wellalage and Kamindu Mendis ensured the hosts had a strong finish after a poor middle-order performance.

Chasing this total, India had a great start with Rohit Sharma scoring a blistering 44-ball 62. But after his dismissal, Axar Patel was the only Indian batter who made a valuable contribution before the Men in Blue were bundled out at 208 as  Jeffrey Vandersay had 6-33 while  Charith Asalanka ended with 3-20.

Speaking about his performance,  Vandersay said,  "There was a lot of pressure coming into the side. I am coming out of a layoff. I had to do something and it is easier to take credit. I want to give credit to the batters as well. They put on 240 runs and that helped me to bowl in good areas. Hasaranga is out No. 1 spinner."

"I got to understand the atmosphere of the team and team balance. I have to keep pushing myself. There was assistance in the wicket, I was trying to hit the good areas. Once I got my first wicket, that built up my confidence. Fortunately, I was able to take six wickets," he continued.
