As the game’s sequel, Smite 2 will feature two teams of five players, who are going to battle to control the three-lane map, growing their power to ultimately win after destroying the enemy’s base. As per the report from Esportsgen, Smite 2 will be a complete reconstruction of the initial game release from the ground up for the next gen, rather than just being a mere continuation.
With the Unreal Engine 5 integration in Smite 2, there will not only be visual enhancement but also new animations and effects of the playable Gods in the game. There will be several gameplay improvements in the game’s sequel, providing new abilities for certain characters, a revamped backend, an enhanced matchmaking system, new map features, and a fresh user interface according to Esportsgen.
Smite 2 will be supporting cross-play and cross-progression, helping the gamers to experience the uniqueness of the sequel while connecting and competing seamlessly across platforms like PC, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5. Notably, Smite 1 will stay as a standalone game with updates set to be provided for a foreseeable future to allow veterans and new players to pick their preferred gaming adventure as they may please.
A gamer can sign up for the alpha playtest for the Smite 2 which is now open for registration. After the completion of the spring alpha playtest in the upcoming summer, the beta playtest will commence in the autumn, which could lead to the game’s release at the end of the year.
