Bangladesh crashed out of the 15th edition of the T20 Asia Cup 2022 after being defeated by Sri Lanka on Thursday evening. Shakib Al Hasan-led side lost both their Asia Cup Group stage matches and became the first team to be knocked out of the tournament. Despite scoring 183/7 in 20 overs, Bangladesh’s bowling failed to restrict Sri Lanka and committed too many unnecessary errors which eventually cost the side qualification for Super-4 stage.

While Bangladesh bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals in the second innings, conceding too many no-balls in the game turned out to be lethal for the Tigers. While Mahendi Hasan did extremely well with the bat by scoring 38-runs off 26 deliveries, his no-ball in the final over costed that whole match to Bangladesh. The Tiger's captain and quality all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan admitted the fact that throwing a no ball creates a huge impact in such a crucial fixture and noted that his team does need to prepare for facing such pressure situations.

"No captain wants a no ball and a spinner bowling a no ball is no less than a crime. We bowled a lot of no balls and wide ball and that does not show our discipline. These are pressure games and we need to learn a lot from here and move forward," said Hasan.

The Bangladesh skipper further claimed that Bangladesh bowlers usually don’t bowl a no-ball, but the way they performed against Sri Lanka showed that they break down under pressure. "We are losing in crunch moments. If we won 50% of the close matches, we would have a better record in this format," added Hasan.
