The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are in a difficult position as they were handed their second straight defeat in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Sunday, March 30. After going down against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets at their home ground, the Pat Cummins-led side were handed a drubbing at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) recently.
While this might add some worries in their camp, they have also caught eyeballs as they have found themselves in a cusp of controversy. Amidst this, the Orange Army has now threatened to shift their base from the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
SRH threatens to move out of Uppal Stadium over “Intimidation Harassment” from HCA: Reports
The franchise has alleged “harassment” from the Hyderabad Cricket Association in Uppal over free tickets for their matches. SRH’s General manager, Srinath TB has written to the HCA Treasurer CJ Srinivas Rao aloso mentioning the President, Jagan Mohan Rao for repeated threats over the same.
While the dispute emerged over 20 seats, Srinath in a letter wrote, “All these unprofessional threats and actions by HCA, especially by the HCA president, make it evident that you don’t want Sunrisers to play at your stadium. If that is the case, please let me know in writing so that we can inform BCCI, the Telangana govt, and our management that you wish for us to move to another venue, and we will move.”
“We have been working with HCA for the last 12 years. Only from last season have we been facing constant issues and harassment from HCA," Srinath added, as quoted by Times of India. “Please note that we pay the appropriate rent for the stadium, and during the tenure of the IPL, the stadium is under our jurisdiction. But in the last game, you locked the F3 box, refusing to open it unless 20 extra free tickets were given to you. This unprofessional behavior creates a hostile environment, making cooperation increasingly difficult," he continued.
He also clarified that it is not the first instance, while adding, “Furthermore, we must highlight that this is not the first instance of such intimidation, threats, and coercion from HCA to our staff in the last two years. The HCA president has previously issued many threats this year, and it was brought to HCA’s notice." The SRH GM has however, adhered to the signed document of seat distribution, whereas the HCA President has been cited to “resolve it” soon.
