The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) added another feather to the cap by launching India’s third moon exploration mission Chandrayaan 3 on Friday, July 14. The launch took place at 2:35 pm IST at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Chandrayaan 3 is the follow-on mission to Chandrayaan 2, aimed to demonstrate capabilities in safe landing and roving on Moon’s surface.
To congratulate and applaud the sheer dedication of Indian scientists, several big names from the cricket fraternity took to Twitter to extend their wishes. India’s left-handed opening batter Shikhar Dhawan praised the ISRO's minds for their achievement. The 37-year-old cricketer tweeted, “July 14, 2023, will be remembered for India’s advancement in space exploration! #Chandrayaan3 sets off for India’s third lunar mission. A testament to our nation's unwavering commitment to scientific advancement. Kudos to the brilliant minds behind this incredible feat. #Chandrayaan3 #ISRO”
Former India cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra conveyed his best wishes to the scientists by tweeting, “Good luck, India 🇮🇳 #Chandrayaan." Joining him was another big name in Indian cricket, Dinesh Karthik, who wrote, All the very best to @isro for the launch of #Chandrayaan3. Take the 🇮🇳 high in the sky and beyond!” while sharing a picture of the spacecraft.
Sharing a picture of the Chandrayaan 3, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chief, Jay Shah, too lauded India’s achievement. Shah wrote, “Success! #Chandrayaan3 has soared into the sky, carrying our dreams and aspirations to new heights! Congratulations to @isro and the dedicated team behind this remarkable achievement. We eagerly await the discoveries and insights that await us on the lunar surface! #ISRO”
In addition, star cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife and BJP MLA Rivaba Jadeja shared a video of the launch and wrote, “Chandrayaan-3 🌝 India's lunar mission takes off, showcasing indigenous technologies for inter-planetary exploration! 🌍🌕🛰️@ISRO #Chandrayaan3 #SpaceExploration”
Chandrayaan 3 launch is the demonstration of India’s ability to soft-land on the Moon, and it paves the way for the country’s future lunar missions.
