India are set to square off against England in the second semifinal clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday, June 27. The exciting and highly-anticipated game between the two champion teams will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. While the teams are ready to take on their rivals before facing South Africa in the final on June 29 (IST), a rain threat looms over Guyana affecting the marquee clash.
According to Accuweather, “Intervals of clouds and sunshine with a couple of showers, mainly early in the day,” on Thursday morning (West Indies time). There has been over 60 per cent chance of rain before the game starts at 10:00 local time and 7:30 pm (IST). While the weather conditions have got better from yesterday, there might still be a chance of the game getting washed out despite the extra time allocated to the match.
While it rained a few minutes ago, Indian broadcaster and commentator Jatin Sapru shared an update at 8.20 am (local time ), according to which, the weather started to get clear, and the forecast looked good for the scheduled start at 10:30 am (local time)/ 8 pm (IST). However, if starts raining again, an additional 250 minutes are allocated for the match which will be utilised through extending playing hours today itself.
While fans would want to see cricketing giants clashing against each other to book a final date against the Proteas, in case of a washout, India will advance to the next stage by finishing at the top of Super 8 Group 1.
