Team India survived a close fight against Bangladesh who have a habit of giving a tough fight every time they face Men in Blue in recent encounters. Bangladesh were cruising ahead on the back of an incredible batting performance from top-order batter Litton Das (60 off 27), but KL Rahul's brilliance in the field brought Men in Blue back into the game.

While Bangladesh dominated the second innings of the game until rain spoiled their plan, Indian bowlers redeemed themselves soon after the match was reduced to 16 overs with 151 as Bangladesh's new target. It was not just Indian bowlers who pulled India into the game, but also the fielders who made no mistake to steal breakthroughs in the middle.

After Bangladesh invited India to bat first, KL Rahul (50 off 32), unbeaten Virat Kohli (64 off 44) and a blistering cameo from Suryakumar Yadav (30 off 16) guided Men in Blue to a mammoth 184/6 in 20 overs.

In response, Litton Das (60 off 21) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (21 off 25) provided a solid foundation during the run-chase, but the middle-order failed miserably as they succumbed to a fierce Indian pace attack and exceptional fielding. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli became the highest run-getter in the history of the T20 World Cup as he surpassed former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene's 1016 runs in the ICC tournament.

Notably, this was Kohli's third half-century in this edition in four matches. Sri Lanka legend took 31 innings to score 1016 runs while the Indian batter achieved the feat in just the 23rd innings of the T20 World Cup. Kohli has now 13 T20I World Cup fifties to his credit.

With that win, India climbed up to the top spot of the points table in Group 2 but are yet to secure a semi-final berth in the ongoing ICC tournament. Her
