Former West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine cleared the air about taking a U-turn from retirement for the T20 World Cup 2024. Narine, who is a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has been in excellent form in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. His batting and bowling prowess in the season has helped them win many crucial matches for the side. With his form, several former cricketers, experts, and fans have been waiting for him to reconsider his decision to retire from international cricket.
However, Narine remains steadfast about his decision despite his brilliant form. The former WI all-rounder announced his retirement from international cricket last year to focus more on T20 leagues. He took to social media to affirm his commitment to his decision and said that while he is grateful for the support, he wouldn’t make a U-turn.
That door is now closed: Sunil Narine clears air about coming out of retirement
The 35-year-old announced on Instagram, “I’m truly flattered and humbled that my performances recently have moved many public to express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup. I have made peace with that decision and whilst I never wish to disappoint, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the guys who take the field in June for West Indies .”
He added, “Guys who have worked hard over the past few months and deserve to show our wonderful fans that they are capable of winning another title. I wish you all the best.”
