Former Pakistan Director of Cricket Mohammad Hafeez presented his brutal and honest take on constant comparisons between Indian batting wizard Virat Kohli and Pakistan captain Babar Azam. The former Indian skipper is considered one of the greatest batters to have played the game. Kohli has shattered several records, and the most significant of them came during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The batting great shattered former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s record of ODI centuries by smashing his 50th ODI century.

Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam has been often compared with Kohli due to his playing style and consistency. The Indian batting wizard is currently playing in the IPL, where he has been contributing significant runs to his side and is currently the holder of the Orange Cap. By far, he has scored more than 400 runs to his name.

There is no comparison between Azam and Kohli: Mohammad Hafeez

Hafeez, the former Pakistan Cricket Director, said that there is no comparison between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. Hafeez said in an interview, “There is no comparison. Both are very good players. Virat’s contribution and performances for his side are outstanding and fabulous. Babar is doing well for Pakistan but still has a long way to be compared with Kohli.”

Speaking about the criticism Azam has been receiving constantly, he said, Babar is a fabulous player but criticism that he actively faces is unfair as one cannot expect to do everything for the team. However, he needs to adapt to certain skills that are required in modern-era cricket as the game continues to evolve quickly.”
