Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have received support from former India player Yograj Singh. Both star players put up miserable numbers with their bats in the home Test series against New Zealand and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Rohit looked completely out of rhythm as he scored 31 runs in five innings of three Tests in Australia against the Pat Cummins-led team. Despite the unsuccess in the last couple of Test series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shown faith in Rohit’s leadership for the upcoming five-match Test series in England to be played from June 20 to August 4.

Yograj recently appeared in former India uncapped player Taruwar Kohli’s podcast, "Find a Way". The 36-year-old asked Yograj what he would do if he became the India head coach? In the reply, Yograj emphasised on protecting and supporting the two India legends during their lean patch. "If you make me the coach of the Indian team, I will use these same players to transform it into a side that will be unbeatable for ages. Who will bring out their capabilities? Because people are always ready to throw them out of the team—drop Rohit Sharma or drop Kohli—but why? They are going through a rough patch and I want to tell my kids that I am with you," remarked Yograj in reply to Taruwar’s question.

He also added, "I'll tell them let's play Ranji Trophy, or I will make Rohit run 20 km. Nobody does that. These players are diamonds. You don't throw them out. I will be like their father. I have never differentiated between Yuvraj and the others, not even Dhoni. But what is wrong is wrong."

Rohit will strive to be among the runs for MI against GT in IPL 2025

Rohit, who is serving Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, continued his failure in the league, after scoring a duck against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in his team’s opening match played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.

In MI’s next clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on March 29, the veteran will be expected to turn up against bowlers and produce an impactful knock from his bat. Ahead of the GT game, Rohit was seen spending leisure time with his teammate Tilak Varma in Jamnagar.
