India managed to defend their Asian Champions Trophy title as they defeated China in the final of the 2024 edition. Notably, during the game, Pakistan, who lost to China by 2-0 margin in the semi-final, were seen holding the Chinese national flag and supporting the home side after they secured third-place finish. This incident has angered the Indian fans and as a result, they took to social media to troll the Men in Green.
Talking about the match, India entered the final as the four-time champion, having won their previous Asian Champions Trophy last year. During the final against China on Tuesday, September 17, the Men in Blue had to fight hard against the solid defence of the home side. However, in the 51st minute, Jugraj Singh scored the match-winning goal to help India defend the title and register their record fifth win.
During the summit clash, the Pakistan men’s hockey team was in attendance in the stands and were seen waving the Chinese flag. Fans took this moment and slammed the team for such a gesture. While some claimed that India silenced China and Pakistan both, a few others even mocked at the poor refereeing in the match.

Pakistan secure bronze medal finish in Asian Champions Trophy 2024
Earlier in the day, Pakistan managed to secure a third-place finish as they beat South Korea in the bronze medal match by 5-2. At one point, Pakistan were trailing by 0-1 after Jungjun Lee scored in the 16th minute. However, Pakistan's Sufyan Khan and Hannan Shahid helped their team not only score an equaliser but also take a lead in the 38th and 39th minute respectively.
Even though Jihun Yang scored an equaliser in the 40th minute, Rooman (45’) scored another goal to make it 3-2 in Pakistan’s favour. A goal each from Khan (49’) and Shahid (54’) helped the team win the game and secure a bronze medal.
