American boxer Ryan Garcia hit back at Davin Haney after the latter abused him for cancelling their potential boxing match. After months of anticipation, Garica announced on his social media that he wouldn’t be fighting Haney. Instead, he revealed, he would fight with the World Boxing Association super lightweight champion Roland Romero. Garcia had announced Romero as his target last month, before changing the preference to Haney.
However, later the 25-year-old once again changed his mind and announced that he was no longer interested in fighting Haney. As per the statement, Garcia claimed he is now more interested in a matchup with Romero. Garcia took to social media to make the announcement, which obviously didn’t go well with Haney. The 29-year-old quoted his tweet to never mention his name again.
Garcia didn’t sit quiet and hit back at Haney by replying, “You will be back,” taking a dig at his 30k PPV buys in the fight with Regis Prograis. Later, Garcia took to his Instagram and shared a screenshot of his tweet, captioning it, “This is how you deal with people not on your level in every way.”
Garica had replied to his former opponent with another tweet and said, “After what happens to Rollies, the dev fight will be there and even bigger. Everyone critiquing now. Will end up seeing it was a better move. Plus he can go fight Richardson Hitchens. Go do your 30k PPV buys. I don’t need you dev you need me.”
Notably, Haney currently stands at 31-0 and Garcia is right behind him at 24-1.
