Former England captain Michael Vaughan has slammed ex-Pakistan international Mohammed Hafeez for calling Indian batter Virat Kohli selfish in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Kohli has been in scintillating form throughout the World Cup with 543 runs at an average of 108.60. The batting star has also slammed two incredible centuries as the Men in Blue remain undefeated.

But regarding Kohli's performance, Mohammed Hafeez described them to be selfish as he spoke about the game against South Africa. The former Pakistani captain shared that Kohli was playing for his numbers which could affect the team in the coming games.

“I saw a sense of selfishness in Virat Kohli’s batting and this happened for the third time in this World Cup. In the 49th over, he was looking to take a single to reach his own hundred and he didn’t put the team first. Rohit Sharma could have played selfish cricket too, but he didn’t because he is playing for Team India and not for himself,” Hafeez was quoted as saying.
Addressing these comments, Michael Vaughan called out Mohammed Hafeez stating them to be utter nonsense. Vaughan also stressed how Virat Kohli played the anchor role to perfection on a tough pitch.
