Star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami came up with a mouth shutting reply to former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar, after the latter predicted his IPL future. Manjrekar had predicted that the former Gujarat Titans speedster will see a dip in his IPL price tag in the auction due to his absence from international cricketing sphere for more than a year now. The fast bowler was released by his franchise ahead of the forthcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, set to take place on November 24, 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Shami returned to competitive cricket last week when he powered Bengal to a win over Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy match. During the game, the 34-year-old picked a total of seven wickets and played a pivotal role in the win while making a case for his inclusion in India’s Border Gavaskar Trophy after he failed to make the cut initially. Manjrekar, opined on Shami’s IPL future and said that he is likely to suffer a price drop.

Might lead to a drop in his price tag: Sanjay Manjrekar on Shami’s IPL 2025 future

The former Indian star commented on Shami’s future in the auction and opined that he will see a dip in his price tag since he has been so out of competitive cricket. Manjrekar appeared on Star Sports and said, “There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami’s injury history—and this recent one took a significant amount of time to recover—there’s always a concern about a potential breakdown during the season.”

He added, “If a franchise invests heavily and then loses him mid-season, their options become limited. This concern might lead to a drop in his price tag.”

Thoda gyaan apne future ke liye bhi bacha lo: Mohammed Shami reacts to Manjrekar’s comment

The Indian pacer didn’t hold himself back and came up with a befitting reply to the cricketer-turned-commentator. He wrote on his Instagram Stories, “Baba ki jay hoooo. Thoda sa gyan apne future k lie bhi bacha loo kaam aayega Sanjay G? Kisi ko future janna ho to sir se mile (Hail Baba. Save some knowledge for your future, it will be helpful, Sanjay ji? If anyone wants to know about their future, then meet sir).”

Notably, Shami was bought by GT for INR 6.25 Crore in 2022, and he picked a total of 48 wickets for the side in 33 games.
